Also known as the Alternate Leaved Butterfly Bush, Fountain Butterfly Bush, or Weeping Butterfly Bush. Very, very popular with pollinators, especially butterflies and bees, these are a lovely addition to the garden.

Buddleja alternifolia has a lovely fragrant scent with weeping branches that flower in spring with lilac purple flowers on long, slender stems.
Fast growing, the branches are arching and have narrow leaves in a greeny-grey colour. This shrub flowers on the previous years shoots.

Classed as a large deciduous shrub, it grows from 2.5-4 metres tall and 3 metres wide. They bloom from late spring into early summer and do well in most soils, but don't like to be too wet.

They love full sun but do well in part shade too. Can be clipped into a small weeping tree. Prune in late spring after flowering.
